FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LONGWOOD, Florida (April 3, 2013) – In honor of Earth Day April 22, A1 Assets, Waste Pro, and the City of Winter Park are joining forces to collect discarded electronic equipment and household hazardous waste Saturday, April 13 from 8am to 12pm at the Public Works Compound located at 1409 Howell Branch Road directly behind Fire Station 64.
“Last February, we collected 25,000 pounds of e-waste during an electronics recycling event with City of Orlando, and we are excited to extend the benefits of electronics recycling to the City of Winter Park. Spring is an optimal time to clean out excess equipment, and helping to do so in a green, environmentally responsible way is beneficial for everyone,” says A1 Assets President Andrew Hoopper.
As the only R2 and ISO 14001: 2004 certified electronics recycler in Central Florida, A1 Assets collaborates with community partners to provide an outlet for safe electronics disposal. The following electronic items will be accepted: computers, monitors, laptops, televisions, telephones, office equipment, batteries, stereo equipment, games, and mobile devices. A1 Assets will wipe and sanitize all hard drives and embedded memory of donated items according to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines and organizational best practices.
This free event is open to residents of Winter Park who want to dispose of end of life electronics in a safe, sustainable manner. Proof of residency, such as drivers’ license or utility bill statement, is required. For businesses and residents with more than a pickup truck load, please contact A1 Assets directly at their headquarters 1100 Charles Street in Longwood, Florida by calling 407-339-7030 or emailing email@example.com
